On 16.09.2022 we were invited to participate in a networking event "An Evening with Embry-Riddle". Here we give our impressions of the evening with much news about the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and with many interesting conversations.
Embry Riddle was founded by Barnstormer pilot John Paul Riddle and entrepreneur T. Higbee Embry, the university’s forerunner, in 1925 in Cincinnati, Ohio. Today Embry-Riddle enrolled nearly 33,000 students, offering more than 100 degrees at the associate, bachelor's, master's, and Ph.D. level, in the following areas: aviation; applied science; business; computers and technology; engineering; security, intelligence, and safety; and space.
Kerstin Alicki, the Director of Europe, had invited us and she also opened the evening with an overview of Embry-Riddle's news in Europe. Here is to mention a cooperation with Cardiff Airport, whose CEO Spencer Birns was also present, as well as the very successful implementation of the first Course Sustainable Practices in the Aviation Industry by Dr. Eval Maleviti and Aviation Cybersecurity with Dr. Krishna Sampigethaya. For both courses we, from aviation.WORKS, have put a lot of effort into making them known in the best possible way in our community of 500,000 aviation enthusiasts. That seems to have worked.
Embry-Riddle Chancellor John Watret had more very exciting news about Embry-Riddle. In particular, the new areas of Aerospace Engineering and Master of Space Operation are very exciting and booming since Embry-Riddle launched these new courses. Participants' expectations were exceeded by 5 times. Among other things, the students get the opportunity to do internships at Space-Ex and much more.
Perhaps one of the most promising developments, especially in the light of the boom in the space industry. Our LinkedIn Job Community Aerospace Jobs will certainly grow significantly.
At the networking evening at HOLM we had an extensive opportunity to get to know the Embry-Riddle team better and were also able to make some contacts.
In addition to Deutsche Aircraft, a German aircraft manufacturer founded on the proud heritage of Dornier, the aircraft manufacturers Airbus and Boeing were also represented. All three manufacturers continued to be concerned with the issue of personnel. Specialists for the areas are still hard to find.
With Embry Riddle graduate Bernd Stomphorst, today's MD of Klüh Airport Services, we were able to discuss the personnel situation at the airports, which is still tense, although the great bottleneck of the summer has been overcome for the time being. With all the known operational problems.
An exciting evening with the world's largest aeronautical university. This is where the course is set for expansion into space. A lively exchange with the many guests from the aviation industry and the Embry-Riddle team. Obviously, we will continue to have a lot to do in the future as recruiting specialists in the aviation sector.
